One job down, god knows how many more to go...

Well, touch wood, that went pretty well, and there was plenty of wood to touch. Far more than both Charlie, who was visiting for the weekend and was a great help, or I had expected. However it's all in the car now and ready to head to the dump. The room feels so much bigger now, it's and exciting eye opener for how it's going to be as this is only the first of three extensions to this bedroom.

Anyway here is an update plan, to put into context where how the layout currently stands. I should point out that I had done this plan from memory before I moved into the flat and so the dimensions have not been measured or confirmed and therefore it's more of an indicator.

The bed is in and rotated back around to represent how it's going to be. I also need to plan out what happens next and until then will be sleeping in this room (it has the nice big window).

Here are some snaps of the most over engineered wardrobe being removed step by step.

And that was that really. Next job was to get it all into the car, it just about fit, and then take it all to the dump, which I plan to do this morning. A good days work and I am very happy with the results so far. I might add that despite flippant remarks in my first post, no hammers were used in the removal of this cupboard.

Biggest project yet!

Moving in day plus five. I now own my own place and although not large I'm hoping to make it, well, perfectly formed, or as close to it as I can get. True to form I'm recording the project in blog form so I have a nice record of all the highs and lows but also so that the few of you great people who seem to take an interest can check in from time and see what's going on.

I'm in Bristol and I've bought myself what I am calling a 1 and a half bedroom flat. I say this because you can't fit a double bed easily in the second room and it would be cosy living if a couple of people who weren't a couple were living here.

Here is a plan of what the place looks like currently:

And here is a plan of what I am thinking of changing it to, but it should be noted that this layout currently changes daily and it is by no means set in stone yet:

This means removing some walls, relocating the bathroom and pretty much a new everything, and I am still in the process of costing it all up before I go ahead. However, there is one thing that I am pretty sure of. The cupboards in the bedroom are over a meter deep! Now I understand that storage is useful in a small flat but this is excessive. So, step one is to get rid and make some space.

Here is a before photo and although, without flooring, it is not going to look particularly pretty in the after photo, I am hoping to start to see the potential when the space opens up.

...and so, where's my hammer!
